Good Luck Comets!
The West Liberty High School Boys Basketball Team will play West Branch in Tiffin tonight. The winner will go on to play a sub-state game. As a result, our previously scheduled program to honor the WLHS football team will have to be rescheduled as several basketball players are also members of the football team.
Tonight’s Program (February 19, 2013)
Bob Cline showed some slides tonight of the West Liberty Rotary Club from the 1970’s and 1980’s. Pictures were shown of past members of the club and the many activities and projects we were involved in. It was a fun night of reminiscing for us. Thanks Bob!
We also want to thank Deepak Giri for providing us a great meal of fried chicken and potatoes tonight. Thank you Deepak.
Next Week’s Program (February 26, 2013)
Next week’s meeting will be our noon meeting at the Community Center.
Grant Writing Seminar
West Liberty Rotary members Jim Carey, Steve Hanson, and Wayne Steen attended the District 6000 Grant Writing Seminar held at the West Liberty Community Center last Saturday. Club members involved with grant writing applications are required to attend these seminars once a year to qualify for writing Rotary grant requests. Bill Koellner was one of the seminar coordinators.
New Shoes Needed
District 6000 Governor Terry Geiger’s project this year is collecting new shoes for people in Africa. The shoes need to be in shoe boxes for easier shipping. We will need the shoes by the District Conference of April 11-13. Terry wants every club in the District to donate one pair for every member. Therefore, our club’s goal is to have 40 pairs of shoes.
The McVey Honor Society induction ceremony for West Liberty High School students will be March 11 at 7 PM at the West Liberty High School Auditorium. Plans are to try to have Rotary and Lions club members host students and their parents that night.
