The RCWL Ringer News – November 7th, 2021

GOOD NEWS!!!!! We are starting to meet every Thursday at 5:30pm at the WL Community Center. This will be a hybrid style that Zoom will still be offered as well. The 1st and 3rd Thursdays will be a social style meeting of getting together with refreshments. Programs will take place on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month. Board meetings will be on the 4th Thursday of the month following the normal club meeting.

OPERATION WARM **** – 

RED KETTLE RINGING CAMPAIGN STARTING SOON!!!! BE ON THE LOOK OUT FOR DETAILS!!!!!!

VAC Christmas Box distribution December … anyone interested in volunteering please coordinate with Bill Koellner. 

Volunteers will be needed Friday December 17th  afternoon 4-7 and Saturday December 18th morning 9-11 to load cars and make deliveries.  Fruit sacks will be delivered Saturday morning to senior citizens as in the past.

Spring 2022 Gala!  please contact Sara Sedlacek if you served on a committee in the past GALA events and/or are wanting to help out in 2022!!!!

Dear Polio Eradication Warriors,

No new Wild Polio cases reported this week!  See attached report.

The last detected case of polio in the Region of the Americas was in 1991. This year we celebrate 30 years without the disease!

I hope all of you, your Club, and your District had a great World Polio Day.  Many raised large quantities of public awareness and money before, on, or after October 24, 2021

 A Win Against Polio is a Win For Global Health!

House-to-house polio vaccination set to recommence across Afghanistan in November  –  WHO and UNICEF welcome the decision by the Taliban leadership supporting the resumption of house-to-house polio vaccination across Afghanistan.

The vaccination campaign, which begins on November 8, will be the first in over three years to reach all children in Afghanistan, including more than 3.3 million children in some parts of the country who have previously remained inaccessible to vaccination campaigns. A second nationwide polio vaccination campaign has also been agreed and will be synchronised with Pakistan’s own polio campaign planned in December.

The Final Two Polio Endemic Countries:

Pakistan No new Wild Polio cases reported this week.One Wild Polio case reported in 2021.  The most recent case had an onset of paralysis on 1/27/21.  Pakistan reported 84 Wild Polio cases in 2020. No WPV1 or

cVDPV2 Positive Environmental Samples were reported this week in Pakistan.

Afghanistan No new Wild Polio cases reported this week. One Wild Polio case reported in 2021  The most recent case had an onset of paralysis on 1/01/21. Afghanistan reported 56 Wild Polio cases in 2020. No WPV1 or cVDPV2-Positive Environmental Samples were reported this week in Afghanistan.
