October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Violence against women is a lot like Human Trafficking – it’s all around us but not that easy to see.   Often hidden yet in plain sight.

Like any disease, Treatment can help – but Prevention is the Best Option.

Is it best to get the Flu or to prevent it with the Flu shot?

Education and information are the best tools to help us learn HOW to Prevent and Treat this disease.

The Rotary Club of West Liberty and Rotary Club of Iowa City Downtown have collaborated to bring our 1st Annual Violence Against Women Awareness Forum to the West Liberty Community.

We have 4 great presenters on causes, signs, prevention and treatment.

Mark your calendar for October 19th and please come join us.

Then please participate in International Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women on Friday, November 25, 2022.

MORE DETAILS ON SATELLITE CLUB

The Rotary Club of West Liberty is excited to announce a new way for both existing Rotarians and Rotarians-to-be to engage with one another, stay up to date with community news and events, and serve our West Liberty Community: The Rotary Club of West Liberty’s Noon Satellite Club!

The Satellite Club is a branch of our regular Club, and the members of the Satellite Club are full and complete members of the Rotary Club of West Liberty. The Satellite Club will have a different meeting location, a different program schedule, and most notably, a different meeting time compared to our regular evening club.

We know that we have Rotarians on our roster that would be able to attend more meetings if they were held during the day, and we have identified some non-rotarians that would be interested in participating in a Noon-time club because they are unavailable during the evening, hence the need for this Satellite Club.

For more information on Rotary Satellite Clubs, please visit: Satellite Club FAQ – My Rotaryhttps://my-cms.rotary.org › document › satellite-cl…

Yours in Service,

Kenneth Brooks

POLIO PLUS SOCIETY FORM

Polio eradication update as of  9-26-22image

FOUNDATION MINUTE:   9-26-22

Welcome to Week 4 of RI’s Month of Basic Education & Literacy

In response to Rotary International’s focus on increasing its impact, and mobilizing networks in order to create lasting solutions, TRF created Programs of Scale to support Rotary member-led, evidence-based programs with demonstrated success.

Each year, Programs of Scale will support a competitive grant process resulting in one award of US$2 million from TRF that is distributed over a three-to five-year period to a club -or district-sponsored program showing success and readiness to expand to help more people in more places. TRF $2,000,000 Programs of Scale Recipient for this year, is The Together for Healthy Families in Nigeria.  Aimed at reducing the maternal and neonatal mortality rates in four Nigerian states by 25%, the grant is a collaboration of the following entities: Rotary Districts 1860 (Germany); 9110, 9125, 9141 and 9142 (Nigeria); the Rotary Action Group for Reproductive, Maternal and Child Health; Nigerian Federal and State Ministries of Health; Medical Associations and Community Leaders.

The $2 million grant will enable the program to provide education and training for quality care, knowledge of healthy timing and spacing of pregnancies and full adoption of the national system for death surveillance and response. In addition, the grant will expand health education for families as well as access to quality clinical care for pregnant women, mothers and babies.
