IN ROTARY FELLOWSHIP
Alka K Khanolkar | District Governor 2021-22 Rotary District 6000
Welcome to Week 2 of Rotary International’s Month of Youth Service.
When the Rotary Foundation was inaugurated 105 years ago in 1917, its mission was to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace by improving health, providing quality education, improving the environment, and alleviating poverty.” Today, in 2022, TRF continues to further those goals through donations from Rotarians all over the world. It is these grants that enable Rotary Clubs to execute humanitarian projects around the globe. Right now, the radar is focused on Ukraine which has been experiencing much traumatic displacement of more than 7 million people, resulting in much human suffering. TRF’s response network has been swift in providing humanitarian relief for Ukrainian refugees; so far more than $13,000,000 has been spent on various relief efforts. With more donations to TRF, focus should also be directed to improving the lives of those experiencing trauma in places like Myanmar, Syria, Ethiopia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to mention just a few. Our 4-Way-Test demands that we not only speak the truth but be fair to all and promote goodwill so that our actions are beneficial to everyone in our areas of influence.
