Rotary DEI Commitment
At Rotary, we understand that cultivating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture is essential to realizing our vision of a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change.
We value diversity and celebrate the contributions of people of all backgrounds, across age, ethnicity, race, color, disability, learning style, religion, faith, socioeconomic status, culture, marital status, languages spoken, sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity as well as differences in ideas, thoughts, values, and beliefs.
Recognizing that individuals from certain groups have historically experienced barriers to membership, participation, and leadership, we commit to advancing equity in all aspects of Rotary, including in our community partnerships, so that each person has the necessary access to resources, opportunities, networks, and support to thrive.
We believe that all people hold visible and invisible qualities that inherently make them unique, and we strive to create an inclusive culture where each person knows they are valued and belong.
In line with our value of integrity, we are committed to being honest and transparent about where we are in our DEI journey as an organization, and to continuing to learn and do better.

Week 3 of RI’s Month of Economic & Community Development.
The best report for this week is this current one from RI website:
For the 15th consecutive year, The Rotary Foundation has received the highest rating – four stars – from Charity Navigator, an independent evaluator of charities in the U.S.
The Foundation earned the recognition for adhering to sector best practices and executing its mission in a financially efficient way, demonstrating both strong financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency.
“We are delighted to provide The Rotary Foundation with third-party accreditation that validates their operational excellence,” said Michael Thatcher, President and CEO of Charity Navigator. “The Four-Star Rating is the highest possible rating an organization can achieve. We are eager to see the good work that Rotary is able to accomplish in the years ahead.”
Charity Navigator assesses nonprofit performance based on four key indicators, including:
theimpact of the charity’s program relative to cost;
the organization’s governance and financial health including its transparency, efficiency, and sustainability;
a charity’s leadership capacity, strategic development, and ability to adapt to internal and external changes;
and its overall culture and connectedness to its constituents and the communities they serve.

European leaders pledge €500 million to deliver a healthier, polio-free world – In Brussels this week, the European Commission (EC), the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), along with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) announced a new financing partnership of over €1 billion to advance polio eradication efforts and strengthen healthcare systems. This partnership will provide €500 million in new funding to the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) – specifically to its implementing partners, WHO and UNICEF – and €500 million to programmes that expand innovation and research capacity in low- and middle-income countries
This year, each Rotarian is encouraged to make a personal donation (of a size dictated by their financial situation) to the PolioPlus Fund by World Polio Day. I made mine last week and am encouraging each of my club members to join me! And Club leaders are urged to make sure each donation is recognized as Paul Harris or Major Donor credit.

Rotary Region 36 END POLIO NOW Coordinator 2024-27
Every year, Rotary members around the world mobilize for World Polio Day. We raise awareness of polio and gather support for our global effort to make sure that every child is protected from it.
By staying tenacious, hopeful, and committed, we will make history by making polio the second human disease ever to be eradicated.
How you can take part in World Polio Day
Host an event or activity. The Rotaract Club of Samaro, Sindh, Pakistan, conducted a polio awareness session to educate parents about polio and its effects on children. The club provided educational materials and gifts for the children.
Plan a fundraiser. Rotarian Jason Browne partnered with Raids of Love, a community of gamers dedicated to doing good, to host “Gamers to End Polio” charity streams on Twitch, YouTube, Facebook, and Kick. They raised over US$4,000 for PolioPlus and also educated viewers on polio and Rotary’s PolioPlus initiative. Learn more about this fundraiser by watching the first Voices of Members video.
Post on social media. Use the materials on the World Polio Day Resources page to spread the word about World Polio Day and the importance of polio eradication. Don’t forget to use the hashtags #EndPolio and #WorldPolioDay!
However you decide to get involved,register your club’s action. No effort is too small or too big to share. As a special incentive this year, the districts with the highest percentage of clubs that register a World Polio Day action will receive a special thank-you message from RI President R. Gordon R. McInally.
In his World Polio Day message, Rotary International President R. Gordon R. McInally explains why we still need your support for our efforts to eradicate polio.
