Last Meeting (Jan 30, 2017)
- Dana Nelson talked about organizational aspects of the Gala.
- See the following message from Dana regarding procedures for reporting and delivering donated items, or making monetary donations:
Dear Rotarian/WLFD Representative,
Thank you in advance for your time and participation in the 5th Biannual Rotary Gala. We are very excited to be partnering with the West Liberty Fire and Ambulance Department to raise funds for a new ambulance and community projects.
We collect data for items donated, and also requested items that were not granted by a potential donor, to prevent Rotarians/WLFD representatives requesting the same items. This is the link to a Google spreadsheet that can be edited with your donations and denials: 2018 Gala Donation Request Sheet. This is the preferred method as it prevents us from having to manually enter everyone’s information, so please use this as your first form of providing information. If you are unable to access this link, please request a paper form and we will get one to you. Please choose one method. If you input the information in the spreadsheet, DO NOT submit a paper form.
Donated items are to be dropped off at Active Health Chiropractic and Wellness, 1503 N. Elm during business hours (Mon-Thurs 8-5 and Fri 8-12) as soon as possible to prevent last minute missing items. April 15th is the deadline to receive donated items.
If the donated item would require some sort of certificate to be made, please have the donor provide this to prevent misunderstandings.
Besides high quality auction items, we encourage sponsorship levels for those seeking to donate monetarily. The donor’s level will be listed in the program and thanked throughout the evening. The levels of sponsorships are listed below.
In order for the monetary donations to be tax deductible, the checks received for sponsorship need to be made out to “District 6000 HEF Fund” which is the non-profit for Rotary. THIS IS ONLY FOR MONEY DONATIONS AND NOT FOR TICKET SALES! Ticket sales are NOT tax deductible and should be made out to “WL Rotary Club”.
Platinum Level $1,000+ with 8 complimentary event tickets
Gold Level $500-$999 with 4 complimentary event tickets
Silver Level $250-$499 with 2 complimentary event tickets
Bronze Level $249-$101 with 1 complimentary event ticket
Any questions contact Dana Nelson: email@example.com (preferred); 319-321-8764; 1503 North Elm Street.
- Approximately 150 people attended the gubernatorial forum, and another 850 watched the livestreaming video from our club Facebook page. Within 24 hours of the event, a total of 1100 had viewed the video of the forum. Go to the Facebook page of the Rotary club of West Liberty and click on videos (left-hand column). Many thanks to Josh Jackson for setting up the cameras and managing the live transmission of the event.

- Here is an e-mail from Barb Ranck, about an anti-human trafficking event in Newton on February 24:
Hello and I hope you all are staying well – cold/flu season is definitely in full swing!
I’m pleased to report that the January Anti-Human Trafficking documentary in Newton drew almost 75 people and created a LOT of good dialogue around this important cause. Thank you for helping get the word out to your spheres of influence!
I just wanted to send a reminder for the next upcoming event, which will be very informative, but also provide hope and practical ways for interested individuals to get involved. Would you please help share this information with your groups? The event is free though they are asking people to register to get a feel for how many to expect.
Anti-Human Trafficking Community Awareness Event, February 24th, The Way in Newton. (Event time: 9:00 – 4:30)
